9/23 Afternoon Update

Hi Everybody,

Impressive: Courtney is breathing on her own.

Even more impressive: she's responding to basic commands.

Earlier one of the nurses put Court through the paces, asking her to smile, then stick out her tongue and she did. We had hoped all along that she could not only hear us, but also comprehend what we were saying, we have our proof today. Courtney will stay off the respirator as long as she keeps breathing and clearing her throat on her own. She's still smiling and laughing, I think she giggled after overhearing a certain somebody talking about his illustrious Dungeons and Dragons career this afternoon.

Keep the love and laughs coming.

That picture below this comment is one of my favorites, I took it at the Narrows Tavern in Waldoboro last New Years.

Love and Miss you Courtney and I am hoping to come see you again in the next week or two. I'm praying for your steady recovery everyday

Julie,

Thank you so much for all of the hugs and kindness you showed me this past weekend. I was so happy to be able to visit with Courtney. Just seeing her gave me so much hope that she's going to fight her way though this, although it can be a sad, slow, and painful process. Sorry that I didn't get to say goodbye to you this afternoon, but I hope you got some rest and had some time to yourself to regroup. Thank you for being so understanding of how important Courtney is to all of her friends and for sharing her with us. I'll be sure to come up to visit again soon. You can count on it.

Love,
Lauren

Courtney has a lot of people she's never met praying for her here in NJ.

It is interesting that a group of us were praying specifically for her around 10AM Sunday morning. So we praise God for this answer!

Courtney has a long way to go, but God was, is and will be on the future journey with her and all of you.

We'll continue to pray for her.

Friends from Hawthorne NJ,

Dawn and Tony Spaccarotella

It was great to be able to see and connect with Courtney this weekend. Despite her condition, she looks as beautiful and graceful as always. Thank you to the University place household for your kindness and generosity to family and friends coming in to see Courtney. The outpouring of love and support for Courtney was staggering to watch this weekend. Courtney has touched so many peoples' lives. Thanks Dad for getting up at 4:45am to take us to the airport. Love and prayers to Courtney.
